Mikki Trowbridge is an Oregon-based yoga teacher and instigator of community through Yoga + Beer and Resonance Yoga Collective. In addition to teaching yoga, Mikki is a Board Member for The Village Cooperative, and loves traveling, reading, sipping on craft beers and getting outdoors for a hike, a paddle or to catch a sunset.

Itinerary

January 9 – Arrive to Bangkok International Airport in Thailand. Process through immigration, baggage, and customs. Meet your Village Experience representative and transfer to hotel for the evening.

January 10 – Morning yoga and welcome session, followed by breakfast. Visit the Grand Palace and Wat Po – two of Bangkok’s most popular religious and historical sites. Head over to Yang Lang snack market to sample local Thai food and have lunch. In the afternoon, visit Wat Arun via boat. Return to hotel via boat and enjoy a free evening. (B,L)

January 11 – Morning yoga, followed by breakfast. Day trip to the UNESCO World Heritage City of Ayutthaya via van and boat ride. Visit the following sites: Wat Mahal, Wat Ratcha Burana and Wat Yai Chaya Mongkol. These are some of the most impressive parts of the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam. Enjoy a local lunch. Return to hotel for the evening. (B,L)

January 12 – Morning flight to Chiang Mai. Drive into the Hill Tribe area and check into community run lodge. Enjoy lunch and then a walk around the village with a local guide to get familiar with your surroundings. Evening yoga. Dinner and overnight at lodge. (B,L,D)

January 13 – Morning yoga, followed by breakfast. Proceed to Chiang Mai. Enjoy a walking tour of Old Town to find hidden temples, try the local noodle soup, and do some shopping. Check into hotel and enjoy a free evening to explore the Old Town and the Night Markets. (B)

January 14 – Morning yoga, followed by breakfast. Free day to explore Chiang Mai on your own. (B)

January 15 – Embark on the Monk’s Trail Temple hike in the morning. Walk over to Wat Doi Suthep – considered the most important temple in Chiang Mai. Return to hotel to refresh and then head to the airport and catch late afternoon flight to Luang Prabang, Laos. Process through immigration, baggage and customs and then transfer to hotel for overnight. (B)

January 16 – Morning yoga, followed by breakfast. Walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage City of Luang Prabang – stop by a few local temples and visit the TAEC Shop to see beautiful handmade Laos handicraft. Then, head over to Pok Op Top social enterprise for a weaving demonstration and lunch overlooking the river. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the community project, Living Land, to learn about the importance of agriculture and how to produce and process rice. Free evening to explore on your own. (B)

January 17 – Morning yoga, followed by breakfast. Proceed to the stunning KuangSi Waterfalls with time to hike, swim and relax. Proceed to one of the local textile villages for lunch and time to shop local handicrafts. Then, catch a boat to the beautiful Pak Ou Caves. These caves contain more than 10,000 images of Buddha! Enjoy a leisurely boat ride back to Luang Prabang. Free evening. (B,L)

January 18 – Morning yoga, followed by breakfast. Free day to explore more temples, enjoy a local hike, shop on your own, get a massage, and/or continue to enjoy the cuisine and coffee of Laos. (B)

January 19 – Transfer to airport for flight back to Bangkok. Connect to international flights home. Or continue on to Cambodia for the extension trip. (B)


 

Cambodia Extension

Itinerary

January 19 – Check out of hotel at mid day and head to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Upon arrival, process through immigration, baggage, and customs and then transfer to hotel. Relax and enjoy the evening. (B)

January 20 – Morning visit to Samatoa Lotus Farm. Enjoy a boat trip through the farm. Then, visit the Landmine museum and Apopo Hero Rats – two incredibly impressive organizations. Afternoon, trip to Bateay Srei Temple – this is a 10th Century temple dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva and Parvati. Return to hotel in the evening. (B)

January 21 – 5:30 a.m. departure to witness sunrise at the famous Angkor Wat Temple Complex. Enjoy a local breakfast and coffee before setting out to explore the largest religious complex in the world and one of the best preserved of the Angkorian Temples. Explore the Ta Prohm Temple, Angkor Thom Temple, and Bayon Temples throughout the day. Stop for a local lunch. Return to hotel and relax after a long, but rewarding day. (B,L)

January 22 – Explore more of the area today with visits to East Mebon Temple complex and Pre Rup Temple complex. The East Mebon temple is a 10th Century mountain temple built by King Rajendravarman II and dedicated to Shiva. It is a pyramid of terraces with stunning sculptures and statues. Pre Rup Temple is dedicated to Shiva and was the state temple of King Rajendravarman II. Traditional lunch in the village. Return to hotel in the afternoon. (B,L)

January 23 – Transfer to airport for flight back to Bangkok. Connect to international flights home. (B)
