Itinerary

February 17 – Arrive to Marrakech and transfer to your Riad located near the Medina. Relax for the day after a long flight.

February 18 – Morning walking tour of Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and Katoubia Mosque. Stop for lunch and coffee at La Bacha. Afternoon walking tour of souks (artisan markets) and time to shop with the guide. (B)

February 19 – Morning cooking class with our NGO partners at Amal Non-Profit. Meet the women involved in the program, cook your own authentic Moroccan tagine, and enjoy lunch and tea onsite. In the afternoon, you will drive to the seaside town of Essaouira. Check into Riad in the Medina and explore on your own in the evening. (B,L)

February 20 – Morning walking tour of Essaouira including the fishing port, inside the medina, and the souks. This was a Game of Thrones filming site so it might look familiar! Free afternoon. (B)

February 21 – Free morning to relax or shop. Afternoon drive back to Marrakech. Check into hotel in Gueliz – the modern section of Marrakech. Lots of great restaurants in the area for dinner. (B)

February 22 – Morning drive to Ait Benhaddou.  Lunch with our friend, Laila, and her women’s cooking cooperative. Tour the sites in the afternoon and visit with Fatima and her Women’s Weaving Cooperative. Check into kasbah style hotel for the evening. (B,L)

February 23 – Morning drive to the beautiful Skoura Valley. Stop for artisan shopping and lunch. Afternoon tour of the Kasbahs. Check into boutique hotel located among the palm groves. (B,D)

February 24 – Morning drive to Mergouza – the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Check into your Riad overlooking the incredible dunes of the desert. (B,D)

February 25 – Today, you’ll enjoy tea with a local Berber family as part of the area’s community based tourism program. You’ll then attend a traditional music performance and have a local lunch. In the late afternoon, ride camels to your luxury tented camp nestled into the Sahara Desert. (B,L,D)

February 26 – Check out of tented camp after breakfast. Drive to the village of Agdez located in the Draa Valley of the High Atlas Mountains. Check into kasbah style boutique hotel. (B)

February 27 – Enjoy a walk through the village and Palm Groves. Then drive to Marrakech and check into hotel. Explore or have dinner at a local restaurant.(B)

February 28 – Transfers to airport throughout the day. (B)

Vaccinations

Visit the Center for Disease Control website for up-to-date requirements for Morocco (www.cdc.gov) and/or speak with a local travel doctor regarding vaccinations.

Recommendations for Morocco include:

  • Hepatitis A & B
  • Typhoid

We also advise that you speak with your doctor regarding a prescription for an antibiotic to combat food and water borne illnesses.


Entry Requirements

  • Passport
    Your passport must have at least two blank pages with more than six months’ validity from the date of entry.
  • Visa
    Visa NOT required for stays under 90 days.
  • Travel Insurance
    Medical evacuation, repatriation and medical coverage are required by The Village Experience. We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage.
