Itinerary

Sept 10 – Arrive to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. Meet your hotel representative and transfer to hotel for checkin. Relax for the evening.

Sept 11 – Morning drive to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Check into tented camp for the evening and enjoy the bonfire. (B,D)

Sept 12/13 – Game drives throughout the day to see the Big 5 and catch the Great Migration of Wildebeest and Zebra. All meals at camp. (B,L,D)

Sept 14 – Early morning departure for Migori. Stop to have lunch with friends (arranged by you). Continue on to Rusinga Island. Check into eco-lodge in time for dinner. (B,D)

Sept 15 – Nice day to slow down and relax in the morning. Then meet our TVE team in Mbita and visit our partner school and lend a hand to the lunch program. Visit the Live Long Ladies and learn how to make chapatis. Return to eco-lodge in the afternoon. (B,L,D)

Sept 16 – Visit a local market, see the tailoring program, stop by the community center, and enjoy a motorbike ride around the island at sunset. (B,L,D)

Sept 17 – Late morning drive to Kisumu. Catch flight back to Nairobi. Meet your hotel representative and transfer to hotel for checkin. (B)

Sept 18 – Transfer to airport for morning flight to the Lamu Archipelago. Meet your Village Experience representative and transfer via boat to Shela Village (where Kelly lives :). Check into your Swahili Accommodations and settle into island life. (B)

Sept 19 – Morning stroll through Shela Village to see some of the local artisan shops. Then head over to your samosa making class and lunch with the Shela Women’s Association. Enjoy an evening sunset cruise on Hippo Dhow. (B,L)

Sept 20 – Sleep in and enjoy breakfast. Then board Hippo Dhow for a sail through the channels and a fresh fish bbq on the beach. Enjoy a swim in the Indian Ocean. Return to Shela in the afternoon. (B,L)

Sept 21 – Morning flight to Nairobi. Connect to onward flight home. (B)

Travel insurance – The plan must include medical evacuation, repatriation, medical coverage, trip cancellation and trip interruption.
