Itinerary
December 27 – Arrive to Guatemala City International Airport. Meet your Village Experience representative and transfer to Porta Hotel in Antigua. Check in and relax for the evening.
December 28 – Meet your local guide in the morning for a walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage City of Antigua. Wander the cobblestone streets, visit the main square and Cathedral, make stops at La Merced and San Francisco Churches, and stop for lunch and coffee. In the afternoon, enjoy a chocolate making class. Return to hotel. (B)
December 29 – Today, enjoy a personalized walking tour of Jocotenango – where guide, Ingrid and her family live. She’ll walk you to her favorite spots and make a visit to the gorgeous church. Then visit her home for a traditional Guatemalan cooking class – so fun! Free afternoon to explore on your own. (B,L)
December 30 – Board your SUV today and head out to Volcano Fuego to volunteer with our feeding program for the elderly and malnourished in one of our partner villages. This will be a day you never forget as you venture off the beaten path, help the team pack and distribute essential items, and connect to the community. Enjoy packed lunches in the village. Return to Antigua in the afternoon. (B,L)
December 31 – Head out to Volcano Acatenango area for a coffee tour and local lunch with our responsible tourism partners at De La Gente. You’ll meet a local coffee farmer and his family and walk through the steps of production. Then, try the coffee and enjoy lunch at the farmer’s home. Free afternoon to relax and ring in the New Year! January 1 – Late morning drive to Lake Atitlan. This majestic lake is surrounded by 3 volcanoes and many Mayan villages. Check into hotel overlooking the lake and enjoy the pool, hot tub, and gardens. (B)
January 2 – Today, you’ll hop on a boat with your guide to visit some of our favorite villages around the lake. Begin with San Juan La Laguna to visit a women’s weaving coop and tour this fun, colorful village. Then head over to Santa Cruz for lunch with our friends at Amigos de Santa Cruz and their hospitality center. End the day with a walking tour with the women of Pintando Santa Catarina Palopo to see how they are beautifying their village and making it stand out amongst tourists. Return to hotel in the afternoon. (B)
January 3 – Check out of hotel and drive to Guatemala City for your afternoon flight to Flores. Meet your guide upon arrival and transfer to Jungle Lodge inside Tikal National Park. Settle in and relax for the evening. (B)
January 4 – After breakfast, meet your guide in the morning and enjoy a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Tikal National Park. These 3,000 year old Mayan Ruins are incredible! Explore Temple II and IV, the Main Plaza, and climb to the top of the Lost World Pyramid to watch the sun set. Return to hotel in the early evening. (B)
January 5 – Wake up early today for a sunrise tour of the park. Be sure to listen for the howler monkeys as they wake up to start their day. Return to hotel for breakfast. Transfer to airport in Flores for flight back to Guatemala City. Check into Hyatt Centric Hotel for the evening. (B)
January 6 – Transfer to airport for flights home after check out. (B)

Required Documents
1. Passport – Must have at least two blank pages and six months’ validity.
2. Travel Insurance – Medical evacuation, repatriation and medical coverage are required by The Village Experience. We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage.
