Itinerary

December 26 – Arrive to Cairo International Airport. Meet your Village Experience representative, process through immigration and customs, and transfer to the hotel for overnight.

December 27 – Meet your Egyptologist in the morning and enjoy a tour of the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx in the morning. Then, head to Sakkara for a meal with a local family. In the afternoon, visit the necropolis of Sakkara including the oldest pyramid in the world – the Step Pyramid. Return to hotel for overnight. (B,L)

December 28 – Begin the morning with a visit to the Royal Mummies Exhibit at the New Egyptian Museum of Civilization. Ramses II and Queen Hatshepsut along with 22 other royal mummies are part of this incredible exhibit. Then, embark on a walking tour of the 1,000 year old El Moezz Street Open Air Museum. Visit mosques, madrasas, hammams, and local shops. Stop for coffee and local snacks at El Fishawy – the oldest coffee shop in Cairo. Then spend time shopping in Khan Il Khalili Bazaar. Return to hotel for overnight. (B)

December 29 – Late morning flight to Luxor. Check into hotel overlooking the Nile River and relax for the day. (B)

December 30 – Early morning hot air balloon ride. Then explore the West Bank of the Nile River including visits to The Valley of the Kings (including King Tut’s Tomb), Queen Hatshepsut’s Mortuary Temple, Medinet Habu, and the Colossus of Agnememnon. Enjoy a local lunch. In the afternoon, check into your Nile Cruise. Visit Luxor Temple and Sphinx Avenues at Sunset. (B,L,D)

December 31 – Late morning visit to Karnak Temple. Enjoy a walk through the Luxor Market. Board Nile Cruise and sail to Edfu. Upon arrival, visit the Temple of Horus. Return to Nile Cruise for dinner and overnight. Special NYE celebration on the boat. (B,L,D)

January 1 – Morning visit to the Temple of Sobeck in Kom Ombo. Spend the day sailing to Aswan. Enjoy the Nile Cruise rooftop deck and the stunning scenery. (B,L,D)

January 2 – Morning visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Philae Temple. Then, explore a local Nubian Village for a traditional lunch and some shopping. Visit the Aswan Spice Market after lunch. Enjoy a felucca ride on the Nile River for sunset. Return to Nile Cruise for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)

January 3 – Early morning check out of Nile Cruise and embark on a day trip to the famous Abu Simbel Temples built by Ramses II. Return to Aswan and check into hotel for the evening. (B)

January 4 – Late morning flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival, visit the Citadel and Alabaster Mosque. Enjoy a Koshary lunch at Abu Tarek’s – the most famous place for Koshary. Check into hotel for the evening. (B,L)

January 5 – Transfer to airport for flight home. Checkout is typically at 10am. (B)

Vaccinations

Visit the Center for Disease Control website for up-to-date requirements (www.cdc.gov) and/or speak with a local travel doctor regarding vaccinations. We also advise that you speak with your doctor regarding a prescription for an antibiotic to combat food and water borne illnesses.

Required Documents

    • Passport – Must have at least two blank pages and six months’ validity.
    • eVisa – U.S. citizens can obtain a renewable single-entry 30-day tourist visa on arrival at Egyptian airports for a 25 USD fee. We provide the visa processing upon arrival. You will be met in immigration and walked through the process by one of our reps. You will just need to have the $25 ready.
    • Travel Insurance  Medical evacuation, repatriation and medical coverage are required by The Village Experience. We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage.
