Itinerary

February 16 –  Arrive to Cairo International Airport. Meet your Village Experience representative, process through immigration, and transfer to hotel for the evening.

February 17 – Morning visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx – one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Enjoy a traditional Egyptian lunch with a local family in Sakkara. Afternoon visit to the Step Pyramid – the oldest pyramid in the world – and the Sakkara Necropolis. Return to hotel in the evening. (B,L)

February 18 –  Morning visit to the Royal Mummies Exhibit at the New Egyptian Museum of Civilization. Proceed to visit the Citadel and the Alabaster Mosque. After lunch, enjoy a walking tour of El Moezz Street – a 1,000 year old open air museum. Return to hotel in the evening. (B)

February 19 – Morning flight to Aswan. Upon arrival, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Philae Temple. Stop for lunch. Then, board your Nile Cruise Ship for dinner and overnight. (B,D)

February 20 – Visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu and the Temple of Sobeck in Kom Ombo. Continue cruising to Luxor. (B,L,D)

February 21 – Optional early morning hot air balloon ride over the West Bank of the Nile River. Then, visit the Valley of the Kings, including entry to King Tut’s tomb, Queen Hatshepsut’s Mortuary Temple, and Medinet Habu. Stop for a local lunch. Visit Luxor Temple at sunset. Return to cruise for dinner and overnight. (B,D)

February 22 – Check out of boat and visit Karnak Temple in the morning. Then, transfer to airport to fly through Cairo to Amman, Jordan. Upon arrival, meet your Village Experience representative, process through immigration, and transfer to hotel for the evening. (B)

February 23 – Morning visit to the ancient Roman ruins at Jerash. After lunch, visit the Amman Citadel and Roman Theater. Return to hotel for the evening. (B)

February 24 – Check out and drive to the Dead Sea area. Enjoy a swim in the Dead Sea and lunch. Continue on to the Wadi Rum – also known as Moon Valley. Check into Bubble tents for an evening in the desert. (B,L,D)

February 25 – Morning desert safari by jeep. Explore the beauty of the Wadi Rum and stop for lots of amazing photo opportunities. After lunch, head to Petra. Check into hotel for the evening. (B)

Feb 26 – Spend today exploring Petra – our second Wonder of the Ancient World! Pass through the Souq, visit the Treasury, see the Amphitheater, hike to the Royal Tombs, and more. It will be a full day of adventure. Stop for lunch onsite. Return to hotel in the late afternoon. (B)

February 27 –  Morning visit to the archeological site of Little Petra. Then, enjoy a traditional Jordanian meal with a local family. Drive back to Amman in the afternoon and check into hotel. (B,L)

February 28 – Transfers to airport throughout the day. (B)

Vaccinations

Visit the Center for Disease Control website for up-to-date requirements (www.cdc.gov) and/or speak with a local travel doctor regarding vaccinations. We also advise that you speak with your doctor regarding a prescription for an antibiotic to combat food and water borne illnesses.

Egypt Required Documents

  • Passport – Must have at least two blank pages and six months’ validity.
  • Visa – U.S. citizens can obtain a renewable single-entry 30-day tourist visa on arrival at Egyptian airports for a 25 USD fee. We provide the visa processing upon arrival. You will be met in immigration and walked through the process by one of our reps. You will just need to have the $25 ready.
  • Travel Insurance  Medical evacuation, repatriation and medical coverage are required by The Village Experience. We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage.

 

Jordan Required Documents

  • Passport – Your passport must have at least two blank pages and a minimum of six months’ validity from the date of entry.
  • Visa upon Arrival – Visa is required and will be provided by the tour company upon arrival.
  • Travel Insurance – Medical evacuation, repatriation and medical coverage are required by The Village Experience. We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage.
