April 8 – Arrive to Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City. Meet Village Experience representative, Ingrid, and transfer to hotel in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Antigua. Check in and await the rest of the group.

April 9 – Meet Ingrid and venture out into the city to watch the Palm Sunday procession. This marks the beginning of Semana Santa! Colorful and rich traditions make this week incredibly special and recognized by UNESCO as part of Guatemala’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. Stop for lunch, coffee and people watching. In the evening, head to Jocotenango for a Guatemalan Cooking Class with Ingrid and her family. (B,D)

April 10 – Walking tour of Antigua to see La Merced Church, San Francisco Church, Central Park, the Main Cathedral and ruins, and 5th Avenue. Stop for coffee and lunch. Visit the Artisan Market in the afternoon for some local shopping. (B)

April 11 – Board your SUV and travel up Volcano Fuego to participate in a food distribution with some of our partner villages. You’ll pack and distribute food and other essential items for the elderly and most vulnerable families in the area. Enjoy a packed lunch onsite. Return to hotel in the afternoon. (B,L)

April 12 – Free day to explore on your own, book a massage, take a chocolate making class, embark on an ATV tour, or check out the museums at Casa Santo Domingo. (B)

April 13 – Morning coffee tour with our responsible tourism partners at De La Gente. Tour a local coffee farm with a small scale producer and then enjoy lunch with the family. You can even buy coffee to take home straight from the farm. Return to hotel to relax. Evening walking tour to explore the alfombras (saw dust carpets) being made around town. One of the best things to do during Semana Santa! (B)

April 14 – Meet Ingrid and head out to watch the Good Friday processions throughout the city. Known as the world’s biggest and most elaborate of religious processions, this will be the highlight of the week! Farewell dinner with Ingrid. (B,D)
