March 6 – Arrival to Kolkata International Airport. Meet your Village Experience guide and check into hotel for the evening.
March 7 – Explore Kolkata today with stops at two beautiful Jain Temples, the Potter’s Village, and Mother Teresa’s home. Enjoy artisan shopping and lunch at FAB India. (B)
March 8 – International Women’s Day! Spend today at Nijuloy House interacting with the Vocational Skills Training program we support through Women’s Interlink Foundation. Enjoy a homemade lunch prepared by the hospitality unit. Learn about the new elderly care home being built onsite. In the early evening, visit one of the red light district drop-in centers to learn more about the intense work being done to combat trafficking and abuse. (B,L)
March 9 – Spend today at Child Care Home and visit one of the street kids drop-in centers in the city run by Women’s Interlink Foundation. Learn all about the programs offered to the kids including yoga and karate. Lunch onsite. Return to hotel in the evening. (B,L)
March 10 – Morning transfer to airport for flight to Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. Stop for lunch and visit to Taj ul Masjid or Pearl Mosque. This impressive mosque was built in the 18th and 19th centuries by Begum Shahjahan and her daughter Sultan Jahan Begum. It is a vision of inclusivity that attracts visitors from all over the world. Check into hotel for the evening. (B)
March 11 – Today, we will drive to Sanchi to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Grand Stupa of Sanchi is a Buddhist complex dating back to the 3rd Century BC. It is one of the oldest stone structures in all of India. We will explore the complex and surrounding stupas throughout the day. Stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit the stunning Udayagiri Caves. These caves date back to the 5th Century AD and were built by the Gupta Dynasty. Drive back to hotel in Bhopal. (B)
March 12 – Morning trip to the Bhimbekta Rock Shelters. This archeological site spans the Paleolithic and Mesolithic periods and exhibits the earliest traces of human life in India…and the beginning of the Stone Age in Asia. This UNESCO World Heritage site consists of 7 hills and over 750 rock shelters …some of them inhabited more than 100,000 years ago. The cave paintings will be incredible! Head back to Bhopal to catch the afternoon train to Gwalior. Sit back and enjoy the scenery. Check into hotel upon arrival. (B)
March 13 – Spend today exploring the Gwalior Fort. The Gwalior Fort is known as one of India’s oldest defense forts still in existence dating back to the 5th Century. We will visit the palaces, temples, towers, water tanks, and more located within the fort. There are 11 rock cut Jain Temples, more than 1500 idols on the hillside, a Hindu Temple known as the oldest part of the fort, a Garuda Monument, and so much more worth exploring! In the afternoon, we’ll venture out to see the Sun Temple, tomb of Mohammed Ghaus, and Tansen Tomb. (B)
March 14 – Drive to Orchha in the morning. This medieval town on the banks of the Betwa River is full of amazing historical sites to explore including the Orchha Fort Complex with 3 magnificent palaces known as Jahangir Mahal, Raj Mahal, and Sheesh Mahal. We’ll then take a walk along the Betwa River and visit the funerary monuments to royalty known as the Chhatris of Orchha. Check into hotel in the evening. (B)
March 15 – This morning, we will drive to Khajuraho. This is the real highlight of the trip! This UNESCO World Heritage site, known as the Khajuraho Group of Monuments, was built by the Chandela Dynasty between 800-1000 AD. 25 of the original 85 temples have survived. These are a combination of Jain and Hindu temples spread out over 20 acres. Their outstanding architecture, diversity of temple forms, and testimony to the Chandela civilization got them onto the UNESCO list in 1986. These specific temples are unique in that they display erotic scenes not seen elsewhere in India. Upon arrival, we’ll have lunch and check into hotel. Then, we’ll begin exploring the site. (B)
March 16 – Spend today further exploring the rest of the temples at Khajuraho. Time to go nice and slow and take it all in! (B)
March 17 – Transfer to airport for flight to New Delhi. End of trip. (B)

March 3 – Arrive to New Delhi International Airport. Meet your Village Experience representative and check into hotel for the evening.
March 4 – Visit the sites of Delhi today including Jamaa Masjid, India Gate, Humayan’s Tomb, and Qutab Minar. Stop for lunch. Return to hotel in the afternoon. (B)
March 5 – Morning drive to Agra. Head to Sheroe’s Hangout for lunch and to support their amazing cause of empowering women effected by acid attacks. In the afternoon, visit the Baby Taj (tomb of I’timad ud Daulah) and the Agra Fort. Check into hotel for the evening. (B,L)
March 6 – Sunrise tour of the beautiful Taj Mahal, known as one of the greatest love stories of all time. After breakfast, drive back to New Delhi to catch flight to Kolkata. Meet the group at the hotel. (B)
