Itinerary

KENYA PROGRAM

June 9 – Arrive to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Kenya. Meet your hotel representative and transfer to hotel for the evening.

June 10 – Morning visit to Sheldrick’s Wildlife Trust for the 11 a.m. feeding of the orphaned elephants. Continue on to Lake Nakuru National Park and check into lodge. Enjoy an afternoon game drive to go in search of the Black and White Rhinos, lion, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and more. (B,L,D)

June 11 – Early morning game drive in the park to catch the predators in action. After breakfast, drive to the famous Masai Mara Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch. Relax and enjoy the bonfire in the evening. (B,L,D)

June 12/13 – Game drives to go in search of the Big 5 – lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant. All meals at camp. (B,L,D)

June 14 -Morning drive to Nairobi. Stop for lunch and artisan shopping at Langata Links. Visit the Giraffe Conservation Center in the afternoon. Check into hotel. (B)

June 15 – Morning drive to the Elerai Conservancy near Amboseli National Park. Check into camp for lunch and enjoy watching the animals at the watering hole. This camp gives back to the local community with every traveler that visits. Make a visit to the local Masai community we partner with in the afternoon.  (B,L,D)

June 16 – Game drive in Amboseli National Park throughout the day. This park is known for large herds of elephant, lots of hyena, hippo, lions, eland and more. (B,L,D)

June 17 – Morning drive back to Nairobi. Catch evening flight to Kigali. (B)

RWANDA PROGRAM

June 17 – Arrive to Kigali International Airport. Meet your hotel representative and transfer to Heaven Hotel. This social enterprise creates jobs for the local community, supports artisans and fair trade, and even has a book written about it. Be sure to read “A Thousand Hills to Heaven” by Josh Ruxin before the trip. (B)

June 18 – Relax and enjoy a lazy morning and shopping at the fair trade store onsite. At check out time, meet your guide and head to Volcanoes National Park. Stop for lunch along the way. Check into lodge upon arrival. (B,D)

June 19 – Gorilla trekking day! Rise and shine and head to park headquarters to be assigned your gorilla family. Meet your tracker and head off into the park to find your gorilla family. Once you find them you will have one hour to observe them in their natural habitat. Relax and enjoy the rest of the day at the lodge. (B,L,D)

June 20 – Golden Monkey trekking day. Head back over to park headquarters and embark on your golden monkey trek. Return to the hotel for lunch. Enjoy a cultural village visit and then return to Kigali in the afternoon. Check back into Heaven Hotel. (B,L,D)

June 21 – Transfer to airport for flights home. (B)

  • Passport – Your passport must have at least two blank pages and a minimum of six months’ validity from the date of entry.
  • eTA – Apply for your eTA one month in advance at the following link: https://www.etakenya.go.ke/en
  • Travel Insurance – Medical evacuation, repatriation and medical coverage are required by The Village Experience. We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage.

Rwanda

  • Passport – Your passport must have at least two blank pages with more than six months’ validity from the date of entry.
