Renowned for its incredible scenery including the largest freshwater lake in Africa, Lake Victoria, the volcanic Virunga Mountains, and the famous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, it’s no wonder Uganda is known as “The Pearl of Africa.”

The country is bordered by Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania and The Democratic Republic of Congo. Several mountain ranges cut through the country and giant lakes snake through the valleys providing an abundance of fish and rich fertile soil for the local people. An excursion to Uganda should include a chimpanzee trek in Kibali National Park, safari to see the famous tree climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park, a walking safari in Lake Mburo, a boat ride on Lake Mutanda, and of course, a gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You can see and do so many amazing things in this beautiful country.

Be sure to include a stop at Ride for a Woman to see a basket weaving demonstration, do a cooking class, take a bike ride through the village, or shop their fair-trade artisan shop. We encourage all of our groups to uplift and empower the communities around Bwindi and this is a great way to do so.
