Mbita, Kenya
Summary
Some of our favorite women in the world live in Mbita, Kenya and spearhead our initiatives in the community including youth education, small business development, clean water, housing, and healthcare.
Social Justice Education
The community in Mbita suffers from a high percentage of HIV/AIDs, malaria, typhoid, and poor overall access to healthcare. Our school was built to provide education to HIV/AIDs orphans, our gardens were started to provide healthy, nutritious food to the women and their families, and our businesses were launched to provide an income. This group faces an uphill battle everyday to simply put food on the table. We are dedicated to working with the community to improve the overall standard of living.
Past Accomplishments
Working one-on-one with our friends in Mbita we have built a primary school complete with classrooms, administrative building, dining hall, and playground. We recently completed our community center housing our tailoring project and cyber café. Our small business program is thriving and consists of a motorbike taxi company, organic gardens, party rental/catering company, soap making, and much more. The women in our program have also received new homes, latrines, clean water filters, and rain catchment systems.
