Anne Campbell
Co-Founder
Anne Campbell Rojas graduated from IU with a B.A. in Apparel Merchandising and minors in Business and Spanish. She studied abroad in Spain fine tuning her language skills. After college, she moved to New York City working in the fashion industry for BCBG Maxazria. She moved to Indianapolis to launch The Village Experience. Anne manages the overall business operations at TVE. She focuses on marketing, finance, and web operations. Anne and her family prioritize travel, cultural experiences, and learning about international cuisine. They have traveled extensively throughout Europe, Central and South America, Africa, and Asia.

Kelly Campbell
Co-Founder
Kelly S. Campbell graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in Apparel Merchandising and Business. After graduation, she lived in New York and Miami working in international public relations for major fashion companies BCBG, Tommy Hilfiger, and Anthropologie. Kelly received her Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Indianapolis and the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. She lived in Cape Town and Kenya volunteering for non-profits and exploring Africa. Kelly has traveled extensively throughout Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America designing trips and developing projects for The Village Experience and The Village Cooperative. She currently lives in Lamu, Kenya and runs a robust social media campaign for The Village Experience, monitors development projects, and escorts our socially responsible tourism programs around the world.

Jenny Baker
Administrative Assistant
Jenny joined The Village Experience team in June 2015 as our Administrative Assistant. She is “home base” for our team and enjoys all of the logistics. She loves connecting with our travelers and donors, and helping them move forward as they travel with us and find ways to give back!

Mikki Trowbridge
Village Cooperative Board Member
Mikki Trowbridge is an Oregon-based yoga teacher and founder of Yoga + Beer, a yoga community that practices at craft breweries around the Pacific Northwest. Mikki’s professional background is rooted in nonprofit management and volunteer engagement, inspiring others to find their ability and passion to share their voice, time and treasures with their community. Mikki’s first exposure to socially responsible tourism was in college, when her love for travel was ignited. She’s been traveling and inviting others to join along ever since – with a special place in her heart for our TVE projects in India, Kenya and Guatemala.
Marcy Lopez Golden
Village Cooperative Board Member
Marcy graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Psychology and San Jose State University with a Masters in Public Health. After graduation she worked studying various health issues including teen pregnancy, education and literacy in migrant farm workers and access to health care for low-income communities. Marcy left the business world in 2002 to stay home and raise 3 children but continued to stay active in public health issues. When their youngest was 7 years old, Marcy and her husband decided that they wanted to become involved in family philanthropy projects. Marcy discovered The Village Experience and was instantly hooked after their first trip to Kenya. Since then she and her family have traveled to Guatemala, Egypt, Indonesia with many more trips on the horizon. She hopes to spread her passion for family philanthropy to other families in the hopes they too will see the value in serving abroad.
Robin Borrud
Village Cooperative Board Member
Robin Borrud has been involved with The Village Experience for more than 10 years. Her first trip with us to Haiti sparked a whirlwind of family travel around the world including Thailand, Cambodia, Kenya, Rwanda, Morocco, and Guatemala, and inspired us to keep designing more family philanthropy programs.
Robin lives between Sydney and Portland and joined The Village Cooperative Board in 2023. We are excited about having her on our global team!
Danson Kahuria
Safari Guide
Danson has served as the main safari guide for The Village Experience for the past 15 years. He is a certified naturalist and bird watching specialist. Danson has traveled to America, Europe, Indonesia, and Thailand learning new tourism initiatives and meeting with clients as part of The Village Experience Kenya team. He assists in ground operations and projects throughout mainland Kenya and is happy to welcome Village Experience passengers to Kenya.
Yusuf Ahmed Ali
Swahili Coast Manager
Yusuf has served as the main boat captain and logistics manager for the Swahili Coast of Kenya for The Village Experience for the past 10 years. He runs a fleet of boats including Hippo Dhow, Shamsa, LaLuna, and Pamoja out of our base in Lamu, Kenya. Yusuf has traveled to Egypt, Thailand, Tanzania, Indonesia, and India as part of the Village Experience Kenya team and has learned a great deal about international tourism and marine projects around the world. Yusuf assists in all island operations and projects and is ready to welcome you to the Lamu Archipelago.
